EON Play

On Wednesday, Team 11 took part in a workshop on energy and how it is used and how we can use energy more efficiently. The class then became actors and created their own play which they performed in front of year 5 and the other year 6 class.

North America

Team 11 enjoyed the start to the new half-term’s topic, North America. The children moved into different classes and researched a different country from the continent before presenting their findings back to the other children. The majority of Team 11 found information on Cuba and Canada and were able to see the similarities and differences between the two countries.

International Day of Peace

Ever since 1983 the 21st September has been celebrated as an International Day of Peace, where the UN encourages nations and groups at war to stop fighting and allow health organisations to enter the areas freely.

Team 11 celebrated this by creating their own colourful pinwheels to send out a message of peace.

This week Team 11 began their new topic on fairgrounds. Throughout the next few weeks, they will be looking at different rides and the science behind how they work.

To start off the new term, the children worked with their team mates to create their own rollercoasters.

Roald Dahl Week

This week at Charlestown we have been celebrating Roald Dahl week. In Team 11, we have been focussing on James and the Giant Peach as our class read and have been carrying out different activities around this book in our guided reading sessions.

On Monday, the children were treated to a play in the hall which all about the life and books of Roald Dahl.

Check back at the end of the week for more examples of Team 11 work.

Times Tables Workshop

A big thank you to all the parents and carers that attended our maths workshop on Tuesday 8th March. I was really impressed with how everyone got stuck in and had a go at the different games. Well done to Rebecca’s mum (T4) and Darcey’s mum (T5) on winning the Easter eggs!

“I learned that the fish with big mouths need them to protect themselves.” Layton

“Octopus block themselves with their tentacles” Lee

“Charles Darwin discovered studied and discovered evolution.” James

Charles Darwin was an adventurer.” Kyle

“Pangaea was when the world was one whole continent.” Eryn M
