On Wednesday, Team 11 took part in a workshop on energy and how it is used and how we can use energy more efficiently. The class then became actors and created their own play which they performed in front of year 5 and the other year 6 class.
Team 11 enjoyed the start to the new half-term’s topic, North America. The children moved into different classes and researched a different country from the continent before presenting their findings back to the other children. The majority of Team 11 found information on Cuba and Canada and were able to see the similarities and differences between the two countries.
Ever since 1983 the 21st September has been celebrated as an International Day of Peace, where the UN encourages nations and groups at war to stop fighting and allow health organisations to enter the areas freely.
This week at Charlestown we have been celebrating Roald Dahl week. In Team 11, we have been focussing on James and the Giant Peach as our class read and have been carrying out different activities around this book in our guided reading sessions.
On Monday, the children were treated to a play in the hall which all about the life and books of Roald Dahl.
Check back at the end of the week for more examples of Team 11 work.
A big thank you to all the parents and carers that attended our maths workshop on Tuesday 8th March. I was really impressed with how everyone got stuck in and had a go at the different games. Well done to Rebecca’s mum (T4) and Darcey’s mum (T5) on winning the Easter eggs!
There are packs available from this session if you were unable to attend but would still like the information please ask me (Miss Denham) and I will get one straight to you.
I hope to see many more parents and carers at our next session.
To launch our new topic, we had The Science Dome in school for the day. It was incredible! We saw the world evolve around us.
